Second DIY Project: The Bluejays (Favors and Centerpiece accents)
The "guests of honor" have finally arrived - whew! For those of you familiar with my recent UPS fiasco, these little chickies were what I had been waiting for... about 55 or so little blue jays.
The plan was to use a couple of them in or around each table's centerpiece at the reception, but when I finally got a look at them, I started to think, "hmmm... these might work excellently as party favors / table place cards as well!" The blue jays represent Paul and me (aka the jaybirds, aka "jbirds" hence my screenname kikijbird), and the decor for the reception will be in shades of green (trees, foliage, etc.; i.e., the "natural habitat").
N.B. These are pretty much actual size.

Centerpieces will look something like this, though in our centerpieces I want the greens to dominate. There will also be trailing ivy; in fact, the only thing that's truly similar to what I'm hoping for is the glass cube and the general color scheme... the flowers and leaves will be different. It's the effect that counts! So if we can get a blue jay to sit in the centerpiece, that would be cool (sort of as if it's perched in a tree), otherwise they might just sit underneath (in the shade, so to speak).
I'm not sure if the birds are quite to scale (this was my first attempt ever at pasting an image into another image in Photoshop!), but you get this gist.

I like how this second centerpiece sprawls a little. Also, ivy plays more prominently, and Paul and I want lots of trailing ivy everywhere!
